Notre Dame women’s lacrosse head coach Christine Halfpenny announced recently the winter camp schedule for her annual Attack The Pipes (ATP) Lacrosse Camp for Girls.
Halfpenny, the owner and director of ATP, and her Notre Dame coaching staff will hit the road twice in December to bring women’s lacrosse camps to Greenfield, Mass., (December 4) and Dallas, Texas (December 16-18).
“Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in high school and college in the country,” said Halfpenny. “We as a staff are excited to help expand the game of women’s lacrosse by hosting camps around the country that offer young girls a chance to learn more about the game and improve their skill set while bringing it conveniently to a location near them.”
“We take a lot of pride in hitting the regions of the country that are booming with young athletes that are excited about learning more about the fastest game on two feet,” said Halfpenny.

Halfpenny is entering her first year at Notre Dame after five stellar years at William and Mary. During her time with the Tribe, Halfpenny won a pair of Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) regular-season titles and had four consecutive 10-win seasons. She coached two All-Americans, 10 all-region performers and 26 all-CAA selections during her tenure. In 2011 the Tribe became the first team in CAA history to win Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors all in the same season.
The Irish will open their first season under Halfpenny in February, with the schedule set to be released in the coming weeks.
Greenfield, Massachusetts
The third-annual Greenfield, Mass., clinic will be held at Indoor Action Sports and features coaches from Boston University, UCONN and Brown in addition to the Irish staff.
The one-day clinic will offer the most updated instruction in stickwork technique, active skill intensive stations and offensive, defensive and special situation strategy. The day will include individual instruction, small game-like situations and team play.
The cost is $75, and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Girls in grades seventh through 12th are eligible to attend and all skill levels are welcome. Goalies must provide their own equipment.
Dallas, Texas
The second-annual Dallas, Texas clinic will take place at the Episcopal School of Dallas and features coaches from Boston University, Denver, Johns Hopkins, Navy and Virginia Tech in addition to the Irish staff. Members of Team USA will also take part in the three-day camp.
The Academic Prospect Lacrosse Camp is for high school girls in ninth through 12th grades, and will feature sessions that are divided by skill development to enhance individual play. There will also be small strategy and game-like drills to teach the concepts of team play. Campers will be grouped according to ability and challenged on a daily basis. Scrimmages will culminate with a camp tournament on the last day of camp.
Goalies will get to work with World Cup gold medal goalie Megan Huether in separate skill sessions. In the evening they will be able to utilize those skills in small game situations and full field play.
The cost is $400 per individual, but a discount is offered to teams of 10 or more, bringing the total down to $350.
