NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Harrison Shipp, a sophomore forward on the Notre Dame men’s soccer team, has received national, regional and conference accolades for his career-high two-goal effort in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Pittsburgh.
Shipp (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week and to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. In addition to those two honors, Shipp was selected as the Chicagoland Soccer News Men’s College Player of the Week.
Shipp actually had a hand in all three Irish goals against Pittsburgh. He sent a shot on frame in the 33rd minute that was saved and then deflected in by a Panther defender for an own goal that gave the Irish a 1-0 lead. Shipp put the Irish up 2-0 in the 44th minute and then gave Notre Dame a three-goal cushion in the 48th minute.
The sophomore ranks second among all Fighting Irish players in goals (4) and total points (10) this season. Both of those figures are career-high totals.
The 14th-ranked Fighting Irish face BIG EAST Blue Division foe Providence later today. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. (ET) at Providence’s Glay Field.
