Hattie Monson Named To 2020 U.S. Women’s Junior National Training Team

Lisle, Illinois native set to join Irish this fall

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Incoming freshman libero Hattie Monson has been named to the 2020 U.S. Women’s Junior National Training Team roster, USA Volleyball announced earlier this month.

The U.S. was scheduled to compete in the NORCECA Women’s U20 Continental Championship May 10-17 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The NORCECA event is a qualifier to the 2021 FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship. However, the COVID-19 pandemic prompted the NORCECA event to be postponed without it being rescheduled to date. The WJNTT training period was set for July 4-10 in Colorado Springs, but the continuing impact of COVID-19 has prompted it to be canceled.

When the NORCECA Women’s U20 Continental Championship is rescheduled, the Team USA competition roster will come from the WJNTT roster.

This marks Monson’s second selection to the international stage after she helped the 2018 U.S. Girls Youth National Team earn a gold medal at the NORCECA U18 Continental Championship.

The Lisle, Illinois, native was named a PrepVolleyball.com First Team All-American and Under Armour Second Team All-American in 2019. She was also ranked #38 on PrepVolleyball.com’s Senior Aces list. Monson earned First Team All-Illinois and Voyager Media Player of the Year honors as a junior in 2018.

Monson is part of a four-member incoming freshman class that was ranked #10 nationally by PrepVolleyball.com.
