Bloomington, Ind. – Junior diver Heather Mattingly qualified for the 2001 NCAA Swimming and Diving championships after taking third place on the three-meter board last Saturday at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in Bloomington, Ind. Mattingly joins teammates junior Kelly Hecking and freshman Marie Labosky at the NCAA meet Thursday-Saturday, March 15-17, in Long Island, N.Y.
Mattingly, who placed eighth in the one-meter event earlier in the day, qualified for her second NCAA meet when she finished third on the three-meter board with 458.10 points. Indiana’s Erin Quinn took first with 508.95 points, followed by Ohio State’s Natalia Drea with 485.10. Drea also won the the platform title in Bloomington.
In the one-meter event, Mattingly finished with 249.90 points. Ball State’s Beth Clark claimed first with 290.80 points.
The 2001 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships preliminaries begin Thursday at 11:00 a.m., with the finals scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
