Hidalgo Earns ACC-Record Seventh Player Of The Week Award

Hidalgo averaged 28.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 6.0 steals in two wins last week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For an ACC-record seventh time this season and 13th time in her illustrious  career, Hannah Hidalgo has been named the ACC Player of the Week. No other league player has earned the accolade more than once this season.

Elizabeth Kitley and Alana Beard held the previous record for ACC Player of the Week accolades in a season with six.

Hannah Hidalgo turned in incredible back-to-back performances over the last week, resulting in the Irish going 2-0 with wins over No. 10 Louisville on the road and Syracuse.

The junior averaged league highs in points (28.5) and steals (6.0) while also posting averages of 9.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game.

Hidalgo recorded her ACC-best ninth 30-point game of the season in the road win over Louisville on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting from the floor and 10-for-10 effort from the free throw line. The guard also posted 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals to propel the Irish to the win.

Hidalgo now has three games this season with at least 30 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals. The rest of the players in the country at the women’s DI level have combined for just two games with that stat line.

In Thursday’s win over Syracuse Hidalgo finished the game with 27 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and seven steals.

Hidalgo became just the second player in the country to record at least 20 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and seven steals in a game this season, joining Liv McGill from Florida. Furthermore, Hidalgo is just the third player to achieve that stat line in a major conference game since the 1999-00 season.

Hidalgo and the Irish begin the postseason with the ACC Tournament at Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia. Notre Dame will open the tourney as the No. 5 seed and will take on the winner of Stanford and Miami. Notre Dame’s second-round game is slated to tip at 1:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 5 and will air on ACCN.
