The sophomore is averaging 23.5 points and 6 steals per game this season

ATLANTA — Add it to the list.

On Tuesday, Notre Dame sophomore Hannah Hidalgo was named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Wade Watch List, a group of 15 elite players to be watched for the oldest and most prestigious national player of the year award in college women’s basketball. Hidalgo was a Region I finalist for last season’s 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America team.

Hidalgo has already filled the stat sheet in her two games this season, averaging 23.5 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals per game. Her swipes mark ranks second in the nation and leads the ACC. She posted 28 points against Purdue on Sunday, which led the Irish and propeled the team to its second consecutive 100-point victory.

The guard out of Merchantville, N.J., was already named an AP Preseason All-American and is the Preseason ACC Player of the Year, among other preseason honors.

Hidalgo and the Irish are back in action on Wednesday, as No. 6 Notre Dame (2-0) hosts JMU (3-0) at 7 p.m.
