LOS ANGELES — Thirty-one games into her rookie year, Hannah Hidalgo continues to be in every conversation for national awards. On Sunday, she added another accomplishment to the list, as she was named to the Wooden Award Women’s National Ballot along with 14 other players. The honor is given to the nation’s best player. Hidalgo is one of two freshmen to make the cut (USC’s JuJu Watkins).
Hidalgo has led the ACC in steals and scoring since Day 1 (4.8/23.7). She is pacing the nation in steals and has already shattered the Notre Dame single-season steals record with 145. Hidalgo also holds the ACC single-season freshman scoring record.
Over Notre Dame’s seven-game win, Hidalgo has averaged 19.6 points, 7 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. She has amassed 24 steals and made 44 free throws during that span as well.
