BOSTON, Mass. — The ninth-ranked Fighting Irish hockey team and the Northeastern Huskies skated to a 0-0 tie through two periods of play before a Zamboni breakdown and subsequent problems with ice conditions forced the game to be suspended on Sunday afternoon at Matthews Arena.
The teams will attempt to make up the third period later in the season at a date to be determined if scheduling allows.
Through two periods of play, Notre Dame goaltender Cal Petersen made 16 saves.
Petersen was called upon to make some big saves throughout the first 40 minutes. Early in the first period, he denied Garrett Cockerill from the low slot. In the second period, his top saves included denying Adam Gaudette with a glove save at 6:04 and then he made back-to-back right pad saves to close out the frame.
Northeastern goaltender Jake Theut stopped all 22 shots he faced in the first two periods of play in the first start of his career.

The Fighting Irish head home and will have a quick turnaround as they get set to play host to fifth-ranked UMass Lowell on Thursday, November 17 and Friday, November 18. Both games against the Riverhawks will begin at 7:35 p.m. ET.
