CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The road to a second consecutive ACC regular season title has been revealed, as Notre Dame announced its 2023-24 conference schedule on Tuesday night. The rundown includes 18 games, with home-and-homes scheduled against Boston College, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
After starting conference play before Christmas last year, the Irish will have to wait until New Year’s Eve this time around. On Dec. 31, Notre Dame will head to Syracuse. The first game of the new year will also be on the road, this time at Pittsburgh. The Irish swept both the Orange and Panthers in four total games last season.
Notre Dame’s ACC home opener on Jan. 7 will feature a talented North Carolina team. The Tar Heels were ranked No. 19 in ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25, and they pulled in a pair of top-notch transfers in Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Lexi Donarski from Iowa State and former Boston College forward Maria Gakdeng, who was the ACC’s third-leading shot blocker last year.
Next, Boston College will visit on Jan. 11, and Miami comes to town on Jan. 15. The Hurricanes made a surprise run to the Elite Eight last season, and the Irish narrowly topped the group on their home court last year, 66-63.
A pair of games on the East Coast is next, first at Virginia on Jan. 18 and next at Wake Forest on Jan. 21. The second Syracuse game of the season will be at home on Jan. 25. After a previously announced non-conference showdown with Connecticut on Jan. 27, it’s back to ACC play at Georgia Tech on Feb. 1 and a home game against Pittsburgh on Feb. 4.
Feb. 8 will bring a highly anticipated clash at Louisville. Notre Dame took two of three games from the Cardinals last year, beating them twice in the regular season. They are poised to once again be a top-15 team, and they picked up a familiar face for the backcourt in former California guard Jayda Curry. In last year’s game against the Golden Bears in St. Louis, Curry put up 24 points.
Games at Florida State (Feb. 11), against NC State (Feb. 15) and at Duke (Feb. 19) will continue a difficult stretch for Notre Dame during crunch time of the season. The Seminoles are expected to be a top-25 team, and the Wolfpack and Blue Devils topped Notre Dame during the regular season last year.
Clemson comes to town on Feb. 22, and Notre Dame goes to Boston College on Feb. 25 for the second matchup of the season.
Reigning ACC Tournament champion and 2023 Final Four team Virginia Tech visits Notre Dame on Feb. 29. The Hokies are expected to contend for the title once again and came in at No. 9 in the Way-Too-Early Top 25. Two-time ACC Player of the Year Elizabeth Kitley returns for a final season, and three-point specialist Georgia Amoore will be back for the Hokies as well.
Finally, as it has for the last three years, the regular season concludes with a date with Louisville. It will be on Irish soil this year, and it will presumably have implications for the ACC Tournament.
Notre Dame leads the all-time series with all 14 ACC teams.
