SOUTH BEND, Ind. — While the overall result wasn’t what the team wanted, the Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team had a few bright spots on Friday night. The Irish fell 220-78 to No. 7 Louisville at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. It was the fourth straight ranked opponent the group faced.

However, Notre Dame kicked off the meet with a bang, breaking the school record in the 200 free relay. Hollie Widdows, Jess Geriane, Imogen Meers and Madelyn Christman posted a time of 1:27.84, shattering the previous mark of 1:28.81 set in 2018.

Maggie Graves notched Notre Dame’s only individual event victory of the evening, earning the win in the 1000 free with a time of 9:50.14. Sophia Karras finished second with a time of 9:57.73. Mary Cate Pruitt notched a second place finish for the Irish in the 500 free (4:47.32).

Christman added two second place finishes in the backstroke events (53.48/1:56.22), both of which are her fastest times this season by a wide margin.

Finally, freshman Hollie Widdows finished second in the 100 fly with a time of 53.20.

Notre Dame has a couple of weeks off until its next meet when the Irish head to Columbus for the Ohio State Invitational just before Thanksgiving.
