SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame softball team (23-27, 11-13 ACC) closes out the regular season this week with a pair of midweeks at Melissa Cook Stadium, starting off against UIC Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. on ACCNX before the regular season finale against DePaul at 6:00 p.m. broadcast nationally on ACC Network.
The Irish have won four games in a row and are winners of six of their last seven games. Notre Dame posted its first sweep of the season against Boston College this past weekend, including a dominating 10-2 win in five innings Sunday to close out conference play.
Notre Dame is 21-9 all-time against UIC, including 7-1 at home. Last season, the Irish edged out a 2-1 victory, a game where Brianne Weiss picked up her first career save. The Irish have won 11 of the past 13 matchups against the Flames.
DePaul holds a slight edge in the all-time series, as Notre Dame trails the series 31-34-1, dating back to the program’s first season in 1989. A year ago, the Irish took down the Blue Demons 8-0 in six innings for the win, as Kami Kamzik threw two scoreless to close that one out.
Tuesday’s game marks “Taylor Swift Night”, where fans can create friendship bracelets pre-game before singing along to their favorite Taylor Swift songs throughout the game. Admission to all Irish regular season home softball games is free.
