NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The IWLCA announced their final batch of awards for the 2017-18 season and the Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team was well represented once again. The team received its seventh-consecutive IWLCA Academic Honor Squad designation for having earned a team cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
In addition to Notre Dame’s team recognition, the Irish landed three athletes on the IWLCA’s Academic Honor Roll. It is the highest number of recipients since the 2012 season when four Irish student-athletes made the list. Sydney Cardozo (Political Science/Pre-Health Studies) earns the honor for the second straight season while Sydney Flynn (Finance/Anthropology and Innovation and Entrepreneurship) and Makenna Pearsall (Accountancy/Psychology) claim the award for the first time. To be named to the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be at least junior standing and hold a 3.5 or higher GPA.
As the summer starts to wind, the Irish will return to campus in just under a month to begin the 2018-19 campaign. The Irish will return 28 letterwinners with a wealth of experience after advancing to the ACC semifinals for the third time in school history. That crew will be joined by another strong class of incoming freshmen, which includes two Under Armour All-Americans.
