SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Irish turned in a dominant performance on Tuesday evening in an 8-0 win over Kalamazoo. Eight different Notre Dame players found the back of the net in the victory.
Notre Dame had three players record the first goals of their career, as Wyatt Borso, Nicholas Legendre and Aaron Hill all opened their Fighting Irish accounts on Tuesday. Other goal scorers included Paddy Burns, KK Baffour, Matthew Roou, Eno Nto and Daniel Russo.
The clean sheet was shared by Irish goalkeepers Bryan Dowd and Liam Egan, each playing 45 minutes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Irish raced out to an early lead, scoring three times in the opening 20 minutes of play. Borso got the Irish going with a left-footed volley from the edge of the area in the seventh minute. Burns and Baffour each found the back of the net within a minute of each other, scoring in the 15th and 16th minutes, respectively.
Roou (22’), Nto (32’), Legendre (34’) and Russo (42’) each added a goal in the opening 45 minutes of play to push the Irish lead to 7-0 at the halftime break.
Notre Dame made several changes for the second half and continued it’s dominant display, controlling possession throughout.
Hill scored the first goal of his career, redirecting a free kick into the back of the net to push the lead to 8-0.
