SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – Ruth Riley had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 8 Notre Dame to 88-63 win over Valparaiso on Wednesday night.
Riley played just 17 minutes because of foul trouble for the Irish (8-2). Alicia Ratay added 14 points, Niele had 13 points and seven steals, and Danielle Green had 11 points for Notre Dame.
Marlous Nieuwveen scored a game-high 25 points for Valparaiso (6-4).
With Riley sitting out most of the second half because of fouls and power forward Julie Henderson having fouled out, the Irish hit four of seven 3-pointers in the half and held Valparaiso to just 37 percent shooting (18-for-49) for the game.
Leading 49-36 with 12:31 left in the game, Riley went to the bench with her fourth foul.
After Ratay hit a 3-pointer, Henderson fouled out. Ivey and Ratay responded with 3-pointers as the Irish built their lead to 18 and were never threatened again.
