WACO, Texas — The season came to an end for the University of Notre Dame’s lone women’s tennis representatives at the NCAA Women’s Doubles Championship on Thursday at the Hurd Tennis Center at Baylor University.
The 29th-ranked pairing of junior Quinn Gleason and sophomore Monica Robinson fell in the tournament’s first round to No. 7 Maegan Manasse and Denise Starr of Cal, 6-2, 6-1. The Irish pair end the season with a 22-9 overall record.
The Irish and Bears traded service games early in the first set, but Manasse and Starr secured an early break and then breezed to an easy victory in the first set.
Cal continued its dominance in the second set, kicking things off with a break and then rolling to a 5-0 lead before winning the match on a break, 6-1.
