SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame women’s tennis team collected more academic awards this week from the ITA, marking the final chapter of the 2025-26 season. The Fighting Irish were not only named a 2026 ITA All-Academic Team, but also landed five student-athletes on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, a program must meet the following requirements:
- Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
This marked the seventh consecutive year the Notre Dame women have collected this particular team academic award. In fact, the Irish have historically been dominant in the classroom, only missing out on the ITA All-Academic Team award just three times since 1996.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
The five Fighting Irish student-athletes who made the list are:
- Bianca Molnar
- Mari-Louise Van Zyl
- Sophia Holod
- Akari Matsuno
- Gabriella Rawles
Matsuno is now a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, while the remaining group is all first-time winners.
