NOTRE DAME, Indiana — The Notre Dame Men’s Tennis team rebounded to earn a convincing 7-0 victory over Cleveland State at the Eck Tennis Pavilion on Saturday afternoon.
The Irish struck first, earning the doubles point behind two quick victories. The duo Brandon Ancona and William Howells downed the Vikings, 6-2, to win the first doubles match of the day. Richard Ciamarra and Matt Gamble quickly followed, notching a 6-3 victory of their own to give the Irish the first point.
In singles, Brandon Ancona set the pace, earning a fast, 6-0, 6-1 victory over the Vikings’ Teichmann. Ciamarra, the No. 6 singles player in the country, made quick work of Mostardi, in a top-100 victory for the Irish. Connor Fu secured a win at No. 5 singles, downing Bilinovich, 7-5, 6-2. Matthew Che earned a 7-5, 6-4 win before Tristan McCormick grinded out a 7-6, 7-6 win. Axel Nefve secured the sweep over the Vikings with a 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 win over Terry.
