NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Notre Dame Women’s Tennis team took down the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest on Friday to kick off the weekend homestand.
The Irish came ready to play as they claimed victory on all three doubles courts. Ally Bojczuk and Julia Lilien took the first match at two doubles, 6-2, and Cameron Corse and Page Freeman quickly followed with a win of their own at the one spot by a score of 6-3. At that moment, the three doubles team of Julia Andreach and Yashna Yellayi had match point and finished out their match, 6-4.
Wake Forest tied the match at one point apiece behind an Eliza Omirou opening singles win, but the Irish would take the next two matches to go up 3-1. Julia Andreach earned the first singles win for the Irish, recording a straight-set 6-0, 6-4 win. Quickly thereafter, Julia Lilien ended her match in decisive fashion, taking the second set, 6-1, for the victory.
Carolyn Campana next defeated Cameron Corse on court one, but once again the Fighting Irish lived up to their name as Page Freeman fought back in the second set to win her match 6-1, 7-5, and clinch the match win over the Demon Deacons for the Irish.
In the only three-set match of the day, Ally Bojczuk fell to Anna Brylin 4-6, 6-3, 2-6, to make the final score 4-3 in favor of the Irish.
