ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving will head to its first away meet of the year this week, as the Irish travel to Ann Arbor to face No. 12 Michigan and No. 14 Wisconsin in a tri-meet on Friday and Saturday.
The Irish are coming off of a dominant victory over Miami (OH), 180-82, last Friday. Freshman Carli Cronk won both the 200 and 500 free in her Irish debut, while fellow rookie Hollie Widdows won the 50 free. Widdows’ Friday time of 23.16 ranks in the top 50 nationally in college swimming this season.
Facing a pair of top-15 teams this weekend will serve as a measuring stick for an Irish squad trying to break back into the rankings in college swimming. No. 14 Wisconsin beat Green Bay last week behind a pair of wins from both 2024 United States Olympian Phoebe Bacon and diver Molly Hampton.
Friday will be Michigan’s first scored meet of the year, although the Wolverines hosted the Be Better Invitational last weekend. Big Ten Swimmer to Watch Stephanie Balduccini won the 100 IM to begin her sophomore season, while Letitia Sim — who competed for Singapore in last summer’s Olympics — won the 100 fly.
Notre Dame’s last trip to Michigan came in 2015. Friday’s session begins at Canham Natatorium at 4 p.m. Saturday’s session begins at 10 a.m.
