NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame hockey program has announced its 2016-17 schedule, which will include 21 regular-season home games at the Compton Family Ice Arena.

The Irish open with a busy month of October that includes a home exhibition tilt against the USNTDP team (Oct. 2), followed by a regular-season, home-opening series against Arizona State. The Sun Devils will be playing their second season of NCAA Div. I hockey and the series will mark the first meetings between the two teams.
The first road trip of the season will be a non-conference series at Minnesota Duluth (Oct. 14-15). It will mark the seventh consecutive season that the Bulldogs and Irish have met.
After opening last season at Penn State, the Nittany Lions make the return trip to play at the Compton Family Ice Arena for the first time (Oct. 21-22).
Notre Dame will open its final season of Hockey East play at home against Connecticut, playing a Thursday (Oct. 27) – Friday (Oct. 28) series.
After additional Hockey East series versus Northeastern (Nov. 12-13) and UMass Lowell (Nov. 17-18), the Irish will play host to the seventh edition of the Shillelagh Tournament on Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 25-26), with Notre Dame slated to play Holy Cross in the first round. Yale and Clarkson will play in the other first round game. The tournament was contested at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois in 2009-11 before transitioning to the Compton Family Ice Arena (2013-present). The Irish won the Shillelagh Tournament in 2009 and 2010.
The first semester will come to a close with a road series at Massachusetts (Dec. 2-3) and a home game against Boston College (Dec. 10).
Notre Dame will ring in the New Year with a home series against Alaska (Dec. 31 – Jan. 1) and then the Irish close out non-conference play by playing host to Michigan Tech (Jan. 6-7).
Notre Dame plays 13 Hockey East games to close out the regular season, including a road series at Merrimack (Jan. 13-14), a home series against New Hampshire (Jan. 20-21) and then a single game at Boston College (Jan. 28).
The Irish open February at home against Vermont (Feb. 3-4) and then play two games on the road against Maine. Game one of the Maine series will be played at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine (Feb. 10), while game two will shift back to Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine (Feb. 11).
The final home series of the regular season will be played against Providence (Feb. 17-18) and then the Irish will close out the regular season at Boston University (Feb. 24-25).
