Irish Host Virginia Tech on Senior Day

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame closes their home regular season slate on Senior Day against Virginia Tech on Sunday. The Irish will celebrate six seniors prior to the match. First serve is set for noon and will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra.

FOR STARTERS

• Notre Dame owns a 68-39 record in ACC contests since the start of the 2016 season.

• The Irish have won eight of their last twelve matches, including seven straight-set victories over ACC opponents. 

• Since being down 0-2 at Georgia Tech on October 1, Notre Dame has won 30 of 41 sets played. 

• Charley Niego tallied her 48th double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs in the sweep over N.C. State last weekend.

• The Irish are set to honor six seniors, Sydney Bent, Caroline Meuth, Charley Niego, Zoe Nunez, Lexi Saulny, and Lauren Wenzel, in a pregame ceremony on Sunday morning.

•Bent and Meuth have both racked up at least 15 kills in 16 and 17 matches, respectively.

• Niego currently ranks 12th in Irish history with 1265 career kills and third in program history with 48 career double-doubles.

•Nunez stands just 103 assists away from the 4,000-assist mark.

• Saulny set career-highs as a senior in 2021 with 54 digs and 11 assists while appearing in 59 sets.

•Wenzel has collected five-plus blocks in 11 matches.

HISTORY VS. VIRGINIA TECH

• The Irish and Hokies will be meeting for the 15th time on Sunday with the  Irish holding a 10-4 advantage in the series between the two schools.

• Notre Dame has won seven straight against the Hokies dating back to the 2016 season.

•The teams last met on October 21 where the Irish picked up a sweep over the Hokies.

• Aubrey Hamilton earned a game-high 11 kills and only one error in the last matchup against the Hokies.

• Hattie Monson picked up a game-high 13 digs to anchor the Irish defense.
