FORT WORTH, Texas — For the first time since 2019, Notre Dame is back in the Elite Eight.

The sixth-seeded Irish will face No. 1 overall seed UConn on Sunday with a trip to the Final Four on the line. The game will tip off at 1 p.m. on ABC, and Ryan Ruocco, Rebecca Lobo and Holly Rowe will have the call.

NOTES

  • Notre Dame toppled No. 2 Vanderbilt on Friday to reach Sunday’s Regional Final, 67-64. The Irish have won eight consecutive games against the SEC in the NCAA Tournament, which is the second-longest win streak against the conference in NCAA Tournament history.
  • Hannah Hidalgo finished the game with 31 points, 11 rebounds, 10 steals and seven assists. It was just the second 30-point triple-double in NCAA Tournament history (Iowa’s Caitlin Cark). There are two 30-point triple-doubles in Notre Dame history, and both belong to Hidalgo.
  • Hidalgo also broke the NCAA single-season steals record on Friday and sits at 199. No player in NCAA men’s or women’s basketball history has recorded 200 steals in one season.
  • Cassandre Prosper added 15 points against the Commodores, and she recorded a block in an NCAA Tournament contest for the ninth-straight game, the longest streak in the nation.
  • Karen and Kevin Keyes Family Head Coach Niele Ivey is the only coach in the last 30 years to reach the Sweet 16 in his or her first five NCAA Tournament appearances.
  • Notre Dame and UConn have met eight times in the NCAA Tournament, the most of any two opponents in Tournament history. The Irish are 5-3 in those contests.
  • The Irish are 9-1 all-time in the Elite Eight.
