SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team is currently tied for fifth after rounding out a 298 (+10) 18-hole total at the Alamo Invitational being played at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas. Leading the Irish is freshman Nicole Zhang (Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Carroll), carding an even par-72 and is tied for third place.
Senior So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton Preparatory Academy) recorded a 73 (+1) to tie for eighth, followed by freshman Kristina Nhim (Cypress, Calif./Cypress) tied for 20th after posting a 75 (+3).
Rounding out the Irish team score are juniors Katie Allare (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep.) and Becca Huffer (Denver, Colo./Littleton). Allare finished in a tie for 45th and Huffer tied for 54th posting a 78 (+6) and 79 (+7), respectively.
Colorado currently sits atop the leaderboard with a score of 291 (+3), followed by TCU in second and Texas A&M in third reporting scores of 294 (+6) and 296 (+8), in that order. TCU’s Brooke Beeler and Emily Talley of Colorado both recorded a 67 (-5) and are in a tie for first place.
The three-day tournament continues tomorrow with the second round of play. Tee-times are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) and will follow a split-tee format.
