LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team wrapped up the first 18 holes of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in control of first place in a competitive field on Friday. The Irish played their best golf late, using a pair of two-under par outings to slide past Kentucky and Penn State in the standings at University Club of Kentucky’s Big Blue Course (par 72, 6,221 yards).
Notre Dame shot 284 (-4) in the first round and owns the top spot in the tournament standings, ahead of host Kentucky (2nd, 288) and Penn State (3rd, 290). Wisconsin (4th, 293) and Illinois (5th, 295) round out the top five.
Leading the Notre Dame Lineup
Hamilton and Albrecht lead the Irish lineup after carding a 70 (-2) on the first 18 holes. The duo stands tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard.
Hamilton, a Louisville, Ky., native, recorded three consecutive birdies on holes 13-15 to help the Irish to a four-under par first-round finish.
Rounding out the Notre Dame lineup were Isabella DiLisio’s 72 (E), Abby Heck’s 72 (E) and Alison Snakard’s 82 (+10).

Up Next
The Irish return to action on Saturday, when they compete on the second day of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. Due to forecasted inclement weather, teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, beginning the second round with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET. The final round of 18 holes will immediately follow the second round.
