Irish In The PLL: Week Two

The second weekend of the 2025 PLL season took place this past weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina, with 15 former Fighting Irish players participating, including the Philadelphia Waterdogs Jake Taylor’s professional debut. Other notable storylines include the Redwoods’ Irish alumni continuing their dominance and the Cannons’ defensive performance led by Jack Kielty and Garrett Epple.

RYDER GARNSEY

After his two assist performance last week, the veteran logged four more points in week two, consisting of  three goals and an assists against the hosting Chaos. He also scooped up three ground balls in his stellar performance. Garnsey’s offense helped drive the Redwoods to the win over Carolina, continuing their undefeated season.

CHRIS KAVANAGH

The rookie followed up his four goal debut with another high powered offensive performance in which he scored two goals and added on an assist. He also tallied four ground balls to go along with his scoring. With this outing, Kavanagh continues to lead the league in one-point goals scored, with six on the season.

JAKE TAYLOR

After a bye last week, the trick-shotting rookie finally debuted this past weekend against the Maryland Whipsnakes. He put forth an impressive performance, scoring two goals, including an impressive behind-the-back score. Partly due to Taylor’s offensive output, the Waterdogs won their first game of the season.

ARDEN COHEN

The veteran defenseman helped lead the Redwoods’ stellar defensive effort against the Cannons in their second win of the season. In the matchup, he caused five turnovers and also scooped up 4 ground balls. He, along with the rest of the Redwoods’ defensemen, allowed just 10 goals in their win by six. Cohen now leads the league in caused turnovers with seven.

BEN RAMSEY

The rookie picked up where he left off last week after his stellar debut with another standout performance. He scored his first PLL goal this weekend, which tied the game late in the fourth quarter, and also recorded three ground balls.

JACK KIELTY & GARRETT EPPLE

The two veteran defensemen helped lead the Cannons to a low scoring win against the Utah Archers thanks to their stifling defense. Kielty and Epple combined for six caused turnovers while scooping three ground balls. The Irish-led defense allowed just eight goals on their way to winning their second game of the year, keeping their season perfect.
