NOTRE DAME, Ind. ââ’¬” Following its best season in the past six years, the University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team solidified the remaining 11 spots on its roster with the No. 6-ranked recruiting class in the country. The ranking marks Notre Dame’s fourth consecutive top-10 recruiting class.
Highlighted by two Under Armour All-Americans, Jessica Masinko and Savannah Buchanan, the Irish freshmen are looking to build off of last season’s success and push Notre Dame to its sixth straight postseason. The Class of 2020 represents seven different states and includes seven midfielders, two attackers, one defender and one goalkeeper.
Notre Dame, which returns 19 players, finished its 2016 season with a 14-7 record and a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals. The postseason run marked the first time the Irish went to the quarterfinals since 2009. Three IWLCA All-Americans, including Cortney Fortunato (first team), Barbara Sullivan (first team) and Casey Pearsall (third team) highlighted the roster.
The Irish begin their fall schedule vs. Delaware at 1 p.m. ET on October 1 at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart (Bethesda, Maryland).
