Irish Men's Track And Field Honored For Spectacular Work In Classroom

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s indoor and outdoor track and field squads earned BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Awards for the 2012-13 school year, it was announced recently.

The Irish, who earned a pair of BIG EAST runner-up finishes before claiming three first team All-America and five honorable mention All-America citations at the NCAA Championships, sported a 3.279 grade point average for the spring semester and boast a 3.271 cumulative GPA overall. The totals put the Irish at the top of the league for both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Notre Dame concludes its time in the BIG EAST by winning four of the six Academic Team Excellence Award’s handed out for men’s indoor track and field since the award began in 2007-08.

The winners were chosen based on the 2012-13 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution’s roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.
