Player Leaderboard (Round Two) 
DALLAS, Texas – The No. 23 University of Notre Dame women’s golf team wrapped up the second day of the 54-hole SMU Dallas Athletic Club Invitational at the SMU Dallas Athletic Club with a 21-over-par 309, giving Notre Dame a two-round total of a 52-over-par 628 (319-309).
The Irish chase seventh-place No. 32 SMU by eight strokes and remain one stroke ahead of ninth-place Wisconsin in the field of 15 teams.
After trailing BIG EAST foe, Louisville, by a stroke on the first day, Notre Dame has advanced past the Cardinals by eight strokes moving into Sunday’s third and final round.
No. 19 Oklahoma State leads with a 24-over-par 600 (305-295) followed by No. 35 Denver with a 28-over-par 604 (296-308).
Oklahoma State’s Julie Yang leads the field of 79 participants with a six-under-par 138 (70-68). No. 15 Chirapat Jao-Javanil (Oklahoma) is in second with a two-over-par 146 (69-77).
“The weather conditions did not do anyone any favors as the wind reached 30-40 mph at times, says Notre Dame head coach Susan Holt.”
“We ran into some trouble in the closing holes after getting out to a solid start and overall I thought we could have had a better finish, says Holt.” “Everyone really needs to contribute tomorrow since we are down a golfer. I look forward to us doing well on the final day and moving up the leaderboard.”
No. 74 Ashley Armstrong (Flossmoor, III.) concluded the second day with a one-over-par 73 for a tournament total of seven-over-par 151 (78-73). Armstrong climbed to 9th place after beginning the day tied for 31st place.
After bogeying the eight hole in, Armstrong did not surrender a bogey until her second to last hole of the day.
The sophomore was two-under through the first seven holes on the front, finishing with a one-under in her final nine holes. Armstrong has now parred a total of 22 holes thus far.
Freshman Talia Campbell (Dallas, Texas) was four strokes better in her second round finishing with a four-over-par 76. After beginning the day in 41st place, Campbell is currently tied for 28th through two rounds with a 12-over-par 156 (80-76).
Campbell was consistent on both the front and the back nine as she picked up three bogeys and a birdie on each side. After acquiring two double bogeys on the first round, the freshman was successful in making bogey or better through all 18 holes on Saturday.
Junior Kristina Nhim (Cypress, Calif.) carded a six-over-par 78 on the second day for a 36-hole total of a 13-over-par 157 (79-78). Nhim is currently tied for 31st after starting the day tied for 38th.
Nhim was dominant through her first six holes making par from holes 10-15 before surrendering her first bogey on 16 (par 3).
The junior birdied three of the first six holes she faced on the front nine. Through the eight par-five holes Nhim has faced thus far in the tournament, she has made par or better in each of them.
Sophomore Kelli Oride (Lihue, Hawaii) matched her first round score of a 10-over-par 82 on the second day for a two-round total of a 164 (82-82). Oride faired the best on the front nine as she gathered birdies on hole three (par 5) and hole seven (par 3).
The sophomore parred four holes on the front nine and three on the back, giving her a total of 15 pars through 36 holes. Oride will start the final round tied for 54th place.
Freshman Lindsey Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz.) remains absent from the Irish lineup after withdrawing midway through the first round due to illness.
Notre Dame returns tomorrow, in a shotgun format, at 9:30 a.m. to begin the closing 18 holes of the SMU Dallas Athletic Club Invitational.
