SOUTH BEND, Ind. — With the 2024-25 swimming and diving season quickly approaching, Notre Dame announced the schedules for its women’s swimming and diving program and men’s diving program on Wednesday. On the women’s side, the squad will face five teams that finished ranked in the CSCAA Top 25 Poll at the end of last season. Irish divers Ben Nguyen and Daniel Knapp will compete this season on the men’s side.
The Irish will start at home with the annual Blue/Gold Meet, an intrasquad contest between the student-athletes. It will take place at Rolfs Aquatics Center at 4 p.m. and will serve as the alumni meet as well.
Notre Dame kicks off the regular season at home against Miami (OH) at 3 p.m. Ironically, it will be the first meet in an Irish cap for Greta Kolbeck, a junior freestyler who spent her first two years of college at Miami. The Redhawks finished second at the women’s MAC Championships last year.
Next, the Irish go on the road for back-to-back meets, first heading to Michigan for a tri-meet with Wisconsin. On the women’s side, the Wolverines ended last season ranked No. 13 nationally, while the Badgers were No. 18. Notre Dame follows with a trip to Indiana on Oct. 23, which is during Fall Break. The teams haven’t faced off since October 2019, and the Indiana women finished last season ranked No. 8 in the nation.
Fourteenth-ranked Louisville visits South Bend next, followed by the first invitational meet of the year: Ohio State. The women finished fourth last year at the meet, one which had long course finals for the Olympic year. Grace Brenneman broke the school record in the 50 free (25.97), while Madelyn Christman had top-12 finishes in both the 100 and 200 back. Both women return this year for the Irish.
Notre Dame kicks off 2025 with a trip south to West Lafayette to face Purdue and Kentucky on Jan. 10. The Irish women narrowly fell to Purdue last season, 165-135. Kentucky and Notre Dame have faced off just twice, with the last meeting coming in October 2019. The Kentucky women finished ninth in the SEC last year.
The regular season slate concludes with the Tim Welsh Classic, welcoming Ohio State, Wisconsin, Akron and Indiana State to Rolfs Aquatics Center for Senior Day on Jan. 24-25.
The postseason starts for the Irish with the Ohio State Winter Invite from Feb. 14-16 and ACC Championships from February 18-22 in Greensboro, N.C. The women’s team finished seventh in the conference last season, while the men were second. Nguyen notched his first ACC medal last year, finishing third in the platform.
Before NCAA Championships, the divers will head to Zone C Diving Championships from March 13-15. The location will be determined at a later date.
The season ends with the NCAA Championships for both the men’s divers and women’s swimmers and divers in Federal Way, Wash. Six Irish on this year’s team attended the meet last year: Calie Brady, Madelyn Christman, Grace Courtney, Maggie Graves, Daniel Knapp and Ben Nguyen.
