Irish Set Numerous Records At Butler

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse program dominated Butler on the road Monday, rolling to a 26-3 victory behind goals from 14 individuals.

The 26 goals set an Irish record for most goals in a road win, topping the previous mark set at Kennesaw State in 2017 where the Irish reigned victorious, 24-4. Their 37 points also beats the previous record by one, set in 2019 at Ohio State and ties their all-time program record set earlier this season against Central Michigan.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Irish jumped out to a 12-0 lead to open the game Monday. Through the first 15 minutes of action four individuals boasted multiple goals including Kristen Shanahan, Kasey Choma, Madison Ahern and Jackie Wolak.

Notre Dame carried that momentum into the second quarter, adding six more tallies to the scoreboard to take the 18-0 lead into the halftime break.

Lilly Callahan concluded the day with seven saves through 45 minutes played before Maile Folet took over at the start of the fourth frame.

The Irish scored six more unanswered before the Bulldogs eventually got on the board at 3:50 of the fourth quarter. Notre Dame finished the day with 14 individuals highlighting the box score, with Fran Frieri and Jaclyn Marszal both scoring their first collegiate goals.
