WOODBURY, Minn. — Junior Isabella DiLisio carded a five-under par 67 on Tuesday to help lead the Notre Dame women’s golf team to a third place tie out of 14 schools competing in the Minnesota Invitational at the Prestwick Golf Club.
The Irish carded a final-round 281 (-7), the second-lowest score of the day, to finish the event with a school-record 854 (-10) for a par-72/54-hole tournament. Notre Dame tied Purdue for third and trailed only event champion Southern California (838) and Michigan State (847).
“It was a great team effort,” head coach Susan Holt said after the record setting day. “It is always a plus when you start out the season with a solid showing. This is a very talented group and they have set the tone for the season early in the year. I’m really proud of the effort and look forward to watching the team continue to develop and improve as the season progresses.”
LEADING THE NOTRE DAME LINEUP
Emma Albrecht led Notre Dame and tied for seventh place overall with a 210 (68-72-70), tying for the third-lowest 54-hole score in school history. It is the lowest score on a par-72 course for the Irish since Talia Campbell and Lindsey Weaver each shot a 210 (-6) in the 2013 BIG EAST Championship. Albrecht’s final-round 70 on Tuesday featured a quartet of birdies.
After firing a final round 67, DiLisio tied for 10th in the 78-golfer field, matching her career-low score of 211 (69-75-67) from the 2015 Schooner Fall Classic. Her 67 tied for the lowest Tuesday score on the course with Purdue’s Inez Wanamarta.
The consistency of junior Maddie Rose Hamilton (75-72-71=218) and freshman Abby Heck (72-72-75=219) helped the Irish to their high team finish as well. Heck led the entire field with 47 pars in the tournament while Hamilton tied for second in pars with 42.
Senior Alison Snakard (81-73-73=227) once again matched her career low round of 73 to score for the Irish in the final round of play.

STATS OF THE DAY
The Irish finished the event with a school-record 854 (-10) for a par-72/54-hole tournament. The previous school record for Notre Dame in a 54-hole event on a par-72 course was the 858 (-6) shot by the Irish to win the 2008 Heather Farr Memorial at the Omni Interlocken Golf Club in Broomfield, Colorado.
Notre Dame’s final round 281 tied for the fourth-lowest score in school history, matching the team’s performance in the second round of the 2008 Heather Farr Memorial.
NOTES OF THE TOURNAMENT
- Notre Dame’s opening round 284 marked the eighth-lowest aggregate score in the Irish women’s golf records book.
- The four-under par 284 also marked the fifth-lowest team round in program history in relation to par.
- Emma Albrecht shot a first round 68 (-4), matching her career-best round.
- Isabella DiLisio’s opening round 69 (-3) was her seventh career round in the 60’s. She shot her eighth on Tuesday with her 67 (-4).
- Alison Snakard tied her career-best round of 73 in the second and third rounds of the Minnesota Invitational.
- The Irish made a good opening statement on the leaderboard looking ahead to April as Notre Dame placed better than a pair of its ACC rivals, finishing a stroke ahead of Louisville (855) and two better than Virginia Tech (856).
- The Irish also claimed head-to-head wins over teams from the SEC (Georgia), Big Ten (Wisconsin and Minnesota) and Big 12 (Kansas State and Kansas).
UP NEXT
The Irish will head to Norman, Oklahoma for the fourth consecutive season to take part in the 2017 Schooner Fall Classic (Sept. 23-25). In 2016, the Irish tied for sixth, shooting an 871 (283-298-290) at the par 71 course.
