Irish Split ACC Road Matches, Earn Win at Virginia Tech

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — The Notre Dame Women’s Tennis team earned a Saturday road victory at Virginia Tech before falling to Virginia on Sunday afternoon.

After the weekend series, the Irish move to 7-6 on the year. In Saturday’s matchup, the Irish earned the doubles point with victories from duos Cameron Corse and Julia Andreach, as well as Yashna Yellayi and Julia Lilien.

The Irish added to their lead with three singles victories to clinch the four points necessary for the win. Cameron Corse, Ally Bojczuk and Julia Andreach recorded singles victories for the Irish.

Notre Dame then hit the road, traveling to Virginia to battle the Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon.

After dropping the doubles point to Virginia, Notre Dame battled stiff competition on the singles side. Freshman Yellayi secured a hard-fought victory in the six singles spot, taking a 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory to put the Irish on the board.

Five Irish then fell in singles to give the Cavaliers the 6-1 victory over the Irish to cap the weekend.
