SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Notre Dame women’s tennis improved to 11-1 on the season after a doubleheader sweep of Bellarmine this past Sunday. The Fighting Irish shut out the Knights 4-0 in the first match, then won 5-2 in the nightcap.
Freshman Sophia Holod was a bright spot on Sunday, producing a 2-0 record in singles and 1-0 in doubles. Holod defeated Reese Parker, 6-0, 6-3 on court two in match one, then moved to court one in the second match and dispatched Vendula Kryslova, 6-1, 6-1.
Fellow freshman Jessica Kovalcik also went 2-0 in singles. She competed against Gracie Hurley both times and won both in straight sets. Kovalcik now ties Akari Matsuno for the longest win streak on the team with 10.
Also, shout out to the doubles pair of Rylie Hanford and Gabriella Rawles who went 2-0 on the day. They improved to 6-1 in doubles dual matches together.
