NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame has been named one of four regional host sites of the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic to be played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., it was announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society on Monday (March 12).

“We’re very honored to be part of the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer field.” says Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey. “I have been very involved with the Coaches vs. Cancer program for many years so being part of this basketball event is very special for me.”

The Irish will be joined by BYU, Florida State and Saint Joseph’s at the Barclays Center for the championship rounds of the event after playing several games at regional sites. The semifinal matchups in New York will be held Nov. 16 and will be televised on truTV. The finals will take place the following day beginning with the consolation game, followed by the championship game. Both of Saturday’s games also will be televised on truTV.

“Playing the tournament at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn will be exciting for the teams and their fans,” Brey says. The Barclays Center, the new home of the New Jersey (Brooklyn) Nets and New York Islanders, is scheduled to open September 28, 2012.

The complete bracket, including Notre Dame’s regional round opponents, will be announced at a later date.

Tickets for the championship round games at the Barclays Center go on sale Saturday (March 17) and may be purchased by visiting cvcclassic.com or barclayscenter.com.
