Irish Track and Field Wrap Up Competition at Georgia Tech Inviational

ATLANTA – The Irish track and field teams wrapped up competition Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational, adding more student-athletes to their list of NCAA regional qualifiers.

Women’s 400 Meters: Joanna Schultz finished fifth with a time of 53.60, followed by Natalie Geiger in 12th at 55.24.

Women’s 800 Meters: Kelly Langhans clocked in at 2:08.75 to finish 16th, while Abby Higgins finished 20th in 2:10.89.

Women’s Discus Throw: Jaclyn Espinoza finished second with a mark of 48.08m (157-09).

Men’s 200 Meters: Miklos Szebeny finished 12th with a time of 21.66.

Men’s 400 Meters: Jordan Rincon finished 22nd with a time of 48.24.

Men’s 800 Meters: Jack Howard finished eighth in 1:49.91, just ahead of Blake Choplin in ninth at 1:50.02. Randall Babb finished 15th with a time of 1:05.66, Kevin Labus was 24th in 1:51.78 and Jordan Carlson finished 30th in 1:54.09.

Men’s 5000 Meters: Jake Walker finished sixth with a time of 14:48.47, followed by Paul Springer in 13th at 15:32.61.

Men’s Triple Jump: Eric Quick finished 14th with a mark of 14.46m (47-5 1/4).

The Irish will have some time off before competing in the NCAA regional meet May 29-30 at Louisville, Ky.
