NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The juniors and seniors on the Fighting Irish men’s lacrosse team will spend Thursday in New York City exploring networking opportunities with some Notre Dame alumni. Those members of the Irish squad, along with head coach Kevin Corrigan and other members of the coaching staff, will make several stops during the day.
The group will commence the day at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as official guests of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Following a breakfast at the NYSE with Deutsche Bank Risk Arbitrage Group, the Notre Dame contingent will be present for the opening bell of trading at the NYSE.
They will then depart the NYSE and head for BlackRock at 53rd and Park Avenue. BlackRock is one of the world’s preeminent asset management firms and a premier provider of global investment management, risk management and advisory services to institutional, intermediary and individual investors around the world. The Notre Dame group will have a chance to meet with former Irish lacrosse player Jimmy Keenan (’98), who is Managing Director, in the Leveraged Finance division.
After the visit to BlackRock, the group will walk down Times Square to MTV headquarters where they will have lunch and meet with Notre Dame graduate Christina Glorioso (’95), who is the Head of Marketing for MTV Gaming. The group also will take part in a roundtable discussion at 2:00 p.m. where they will discuss all aspects of running a world-wide media company.
The next stop will be the NASDAQ market site in Times Square. The group will be in attendance for the closing bell ceremonies at NASDAQ.
The last item on the agenda will be an alumni reception on Thursday evening at the New York Athletic Club.
A similar venture was made last fall for the Irish men’s lacrosse upperclassmen. The trips have coincided with the University’s fall break.
The Notre Dame squad traveled out West last week to play Johns Hopkins in the San Francisco Fall Lacrosse Classic. While in the Bay Area, the Irish juniors and seniors visited Google and EA Sports for additional networking opportunities. The Irish capped off the weekend with a 10-7 victory over the Blue Jays in the exhibition contest.
