BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The No. 39 Notre Dame women’s golf team rebounded after a tough opening 18 holes to jump into the top-10 at the end of the second round of the Bryan National Collegiate at Bryan Park Champions Course (par 72, 6,386 yards).

The Irish were 11th overall after shooting a 304 (+14) in the first round. Notre Dame got right back out there as the second round was moved up due to inclement weather over the next two days. The second time on the course proved beneficial as the Irish shot a 295 (+9) in the second round. Notre Dame sits in ninth overall 304-295 (+23) after the first two rounds thanks to the strong play from Mia Ayer and Emma Albrecht.

Ayer (73-71) fired a team-best, even-par two-round score of 144. She is in a tie for third overall, one shot behind Kelly Whaley (75-68-143) of North Carolina and three shots back of Emilia Migliaccio (71-70-141) of Wake Forest. Albrecht (73-72) was not far behind as she finished one-over after a two-round score of 145. She is four shots off the leader and in a tie for seventh.

Isabella DiLisio (78-77-155) stands tied for 58th while freshman Abby Heck (80-76-156) is one shot behind in a tie for 62nd.

Maddie Rose Hamilton (83-76-159) is tied for 77th after she had a seven-shot improvement between her first and second rounds.

COACH HOLT QUOTE

Thoughts on the opening two rounds….
“Conditions were tough today. The wind made it very challenging with pulling the right club and committing to each shot. We struggled with that in the first round and made the necessary adjustments during round two and played much better. Excited to continue to move up the leader board tomorrow. Mia (Ayer) and Emma (Albrecht) played some really solid golf today.”
