SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – Freshman Alicia Ratay scored 16 points as No. 11 Notre Dame coasted to a 77-57 win over Butler on Wednesday night in the Irish’s home opener.
Center Ruth Riley added 14 points and seven blocked shots in just 19 minutes of play for the Irish (2-1). Niele Ivey had 13 points and reserve Ericka Haney had 11.
Notre Dame used a 16-0 run midway through the first half to break open the game. The Irish led 15-9 with 14:05 remaining in the half when they went on their streak.
Riley scored six points in the run as Butler (3-2) went nearly nine minutes without scoring. Riley started the run with a pair of layups and ended it with another.
Kelly Kuhn paced the Bulldogs with 17 points and led all players with 12 rebounds, while Julie Schrader added 13 points. The Bulldogs shot just 26 percent (18-of-68).
