Irish Women's Golf Finishes Tied For 14th At 2009 Bryan National Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Irish women’s golf team finished tied for 14th-place at the Bryan National Collegiate as the team shot a final round 315 (27 over par) on the Champions Course. The upperclassmen led the way for the Irish in the third round as senior captain Lisa Maunu (St. Thomas, Ontario/Parkside Collegiate Institute) and junior Annie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) each carded plus-six marks of 78.

Maunu and Brophy shot identical 17 over-par scores of 233 for the tournament and the duo finished in a tie for 52nd. Maunu’s third round highlights included birdies on the first, fourth and 13th holes. On day three, Brophy notched birdies on the third and eleventh, both par-fives. For the weekend, Brophy carded a minus five mark on the 12 par fives to tie for the second best combined score at the event for par five play.

Freshman Becca Huffer (Denver, Colo./Littleton HS) also scored for the Irish in round three, carding a seven over par-79. With a three round total of 231, Huffer was Notre Dame’s best finisher as she ended in a tie for 43rd. She carded 11 pars in the final round of play.

Sophomore So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton Prep) registered a third round score of plus-eight 80 to round out the scoring for the Irish. She finished tied for 69th with a plus-21 (237) mark for the tournament. Her third round included a birdie on the 15th and 10 pars.

Sophomore Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) posted a plus-nine 81 in her final round, giving her a three-day total of 240. The 24-over par mark placed her tied for 76th. In her third round, she birdied the ninth and added eight pars.

The Irish finished tied with Georgia in 14th. Louisiana State University captured the 2009 Bryan National Collegiate by shooting a 23-over par 891, four strokes better than second place Virginia. Megan McChrystal of LSU captured medalist honors with a minus-one 215 total.

The Irish return to action on April 19 as they look to capture their second consecutive BIG EAST tournament title, having won the crown in 2008. The 2009 tournament will be played in Dade City, Fla. at the Lake Jovita Golf Course.
