NOTRE DAME, Ind. –

The Notre Dame women’s tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule Sunday by going 2-1 on the final day of the Eck Classic. The Irish concluded the tournament with an overall record of 9-3.

Katie Potts and Kali Krisik were victorious in consolation singles play Sunday, while Kelcy Tefft suffered her first loss of the weekend in the Blue Flight championship match.

Potts defeated Western Michigan’s Kerstin Pahl to win the consolation bracket of the Blue flight, scoring a 6-3, 7-6 victory. Pahl was a familiar opponent for Potts, who teamed with Krisik to defeat Pahl and her Bronco teammate Ashley Moccia in Saturday’s doubles championship match. Potts concluded the weekend with a 5-1 record.

Krisik, the only freshman to see action this weekend, won her second singles match in as many days, defeating Kristina Minor of Illinois 6-2, 7-6 to win the consolation bracket of the Gold Flight. It was the second straight day that the Irish rookie closed out a match in a second set tiebreaker.

Tefft closed out her fall season by falling to DePaul’s Dunja Antunovic 6-4, 7-5. The Notre Dame sophomore was involved in close matches all weekend as four of her six sets ended in 7-5 scores. She was 3-1 in those sets.

With the fall season concluded, the Irish will set their sights on improving upon last season’s program best 27-2 record and quarterfinal NCAA appearance. The spring season opens January 12 at the UNLV Invitational.
