NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Competition came to an end Monday for the University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships at Michigan State University.
Senior Monica Robinson and junior Brooke Broda snared runner-up honors after falling in the doubles championship match to Michigan’s Kate Fahey and Alex Najarian in an 8-1 decision. Robinson and Broda are 6-3 on the season.
Later in the morning, Robinson fell to Najarian in the singles quarterfinal, 6-3, 6-4.
Next up for the Irish is the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships slated for November 3-6, as well as the Lakewood Ranch Invitational November 4-6.

Joanne Norell, athletics communications assistant director at the University of Notre Dame, has been part of the Fighting Irish athletics communications team since 2014 and coordinates communications efforts for the Notre Dame women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and fencing programs. Norell is a 2011 graduate of Purdue University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, and earned her master’s degree in sports industry management from Georgetown University in 2013.
