The post-season awards just keep coming for sophomore forward Izzy Engle as she was announced as one of four finalists for the 2025 Honda Sport Award for Soccer on Monday afternoon.
The four finalists are our very own Izzy Engle, Stanford University senior forward Jasmine Aikey, Florida State junior forward Jordynn Dudley, and senior forward Seven Castain from Texas Christian University.
Engle was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-ACC, and USC All-Atlantic Region First Team. Engle became the first Notre Dame striker to win ACC Offensive Player of the Year and just the fifth player in conference history to earn Freshman of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year in consecutive seasons.
She scored 44 points across 19 matches, which is the third-best in the nation in points per game (2.32). She scored 19 goals this season, which is fifth nationally. She was also recognized as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, was named to the ACC Championship All-Tournament Team, and received CSC Academic All-District honors this year.
In conference play, Engle scored 11 goals and was one of only two players to record double-figure goals in ACC matches this season. She was the only player to register a hat trick in league play, scoring three times in Notre Dame’s 5-0 win at Virginia Tech on October 23.
Engle has now scored an impressive 38 career goals in just 41 matches played through her sophomore season.
The announcement comes during a landmark moment for the organization, as the CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025–26 collegiate athletics season. For five decades, the Honda Sport Award has honored the nation’s top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, symbolizing “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” The recipient will become a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the Class of 2025 Honda Cup, to be presented live on Monday, July 27, at 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
The soccer finalists were selected by a panel of experts and coaches from the United Soccer Coaches. Voting for the Honda Sport Award for soccer is conducted by senior women administrators from more than 1,000 NCAA member institutions.
