Janicke Signs ATO With Coachella Valley

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame senior forward Justin Janicke has inked his first professional contract, following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. The Irish team captain in his final year at Notre Dame, Janicke becomes the third graduating member of the 2025 class to sign a professional deal after earning an amateur tryout contract from the Coachella Valley Firebirds of the American Hockey League. The Firebirds are the AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken (National Hockey League) of which Janicke was a 2021 draft pick for.

“I am super excited for the next step in my journey,” Janicke said after signing his first professional contract over the weekend. “I’m so grateful for the people that make Notre Dame so special. I will forever cherish the memories and moments that have prepared me for the road ahead.”

In four years with the Irish, Janicke combined to play in 143 career games and amassed 74 points off 28 goals and 46 assists. He served as captain during his final year at Notre Dame and amounted over half his career goals as he led the Irish in the category with 15. As a senior, he registered 34 points, more than doubling that of his previous season-best and averaged just under a point per game after appearing in all 38 contests for the Blue and Gold.

“I will forever cherish the memories and moments that have prepared me for the road ahead,” Janicke concluded.

Janicke is set to report to Coachella Valley later this season.
