Janton, Reyes-Gentry Head To Singapore For World Aquatics Championships

Janton will represent the United States, while Reyes-Gentry will represent Mexico

SINGAPORE — For the first time in their young careers, Notre Dame’s Tommy Janton and Marcus Reyes-Gentry will represent their countries on a grand international stage. Starting this weekend, the seniors will compete at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. While the meet began July 11 and runs through August 3, the swimming competition begins July 26. 

Janton, who earned a spot on the team by winning the 100 backstroke at the 2025 USA Swimming National Championships, will swim the 100. He enters with a best time of 53.00, which is a Notre Dame record. The prelims for the 100 back will be on July 28, and the final is the following day. This is his first appearance on the U.S. National Team.

Reyes-Gentry will swim both the 50 and 100 back for Mexico. After the July 28 event to start, Reyes-Gentry will compete in the 50 back on August 2. He went best times in both events at the USA Swimming National Championships (24.99/54.27).
