SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Sophomore goalkeeper Sonoma Kasica has been selected as one of 24 players to take part in a U.S. National Team Development Camp with the first part of camp running concurrently with the USWNT January training camp at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif.
The players named to the camp, which will run from Jan. 17-25, are primarily collegiate players (21) along with current USL Super League leading scorer Ashlyn Puerta, who has 11 goals for Sporting JAX, Dallas Trinity midfielder Lexi Missimo, and defender Zoe Matthews, who plays for Dux Logroño in Spain on loan from the Houston Dash.
Kasica started in all 20 games for the Irish this season, finishing with a record of 15-2-3. She recorded 60 saves and a .759 save percentage, allowing 19 goals. She recorded a season-high 7 saves in the win over No. 5 Florida State (10/9 and finished with 5 shutouts, playing a part in two team shutouts.
