NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Senior women’s lacrosse captain Lael O’Shaughnessy has been named Notre Dame’s first BIG EAST offensive player of the week after leading the Irish a 3-0 record last week, including a pair of BIG EAST road wins that have Notre Dame atop the BIG EAST standings. The preseason all-BIG EAST selection scored four goals and had 10 assists for a 14-point week. This season marks the first of women’s lacrosse competition in the BIG EAST Conference.
O’Shaughnessy turned in a six-point (one goal, five assists) performance as Notre Dame began its three-game spring break trip with a 19-8 win at Virginia Tech on Tuesday. She helped the Irish improve to 2-0 in the BIG EAST with a goal and two more assists in the 8-7 victory at Boston College on Saturday. She helped the Irish conclude their spring break trip with a 3-0 record with two goals and three assists in an 8-3 win at Harvard.
O’Shaughnessy leads the 3-1 Irish in scoring with five goals on 11 shots and 11 assists for 16 points. Notre Dame returns to action when it welcomes Denver to Moose Krause Stadium for the Irish home opener at 1:00 p.m., on Sun., March 25.
