PALM DESERT, Calif. – University of Notre Dame men’s tennis junior continued to add to his impressive fall resume Wednesday, claiming his third win over a ranked opponent in the first round of the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Lebedev ousted 10th-seeded and 59th-ranked Johannes Ingildsen of Florida in straight sets, breezing through the first set and withstanding an Ingildsen run in the second to win 6-1, 7-5.
The Island Park, New York, product has improved to 3-1 on the season against ranked opponents. He will face the winner of the first round match between Alex Ribiero of Virginia Tech and Marcus Walters of Tyler Junior College.
Play will resume at 11 a.m. ET Thursday with the second round of action. Live scoring is available, while certain matches will be streamed on the ITA’s event page..

Joanne Norell, athletics communications assistant director at the University of Notre Dame, has been part of the Fighting Irish athletics communications team since 2014 and coordinates communications efforts for the Notre Dame men’s tennis, women’s tennis and fencing programs, in addition to overseeing production of the football Gameday Magazine. Norell is a 2011 graduate of Purdue University and earned her master’s degree from Georgetown University in 2013.
