NOTRE DAME, Ind. — University of Notre Dame women’s fencing senior Lee Kiefer has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female Fencer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
In her first dual competition since returning to Notre Dame after a year spent training for the 2016 Rio Olympics, senior Lee Kiefer led the Irish with a perfect weekend at the St. John’s and NYU Invitationals. Kiefer went 20-0 on the weekend, appearing in seven of Notre Dame’s nine duals and helping the No. 3 Irish women defeat No. 4 Ohio State, No. 5 Penn State, No. 7 Harvard, NYU and Wayne State. The Irish senior from Versailles, Kentucky, also went 6-0 in two close losses to No. 1 Columbia.
Kiefer and the Irish will return to competition this Saturday and Sunday when they host the annual DeCicco Duals at the Castellan Family Fencing Center.
