Welcome to Team USA, Chris Lindauer.
On Sunday, the Peterson Family Head Swimming Coach was named an assistant coach for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. It is his first time serving in a Team USA role, and it comes following rising senior Chris Guiliano’s Olympic berth as well.
Lindauer just finished his second year in South Bend and has already taken the program to new heights. In March, the men’s team finished 10th at the 2024 NCAA Championships, the program’s highest finish ever.
A graduate of Louisville where he also coached for 13 years, Lindauer has now served as the head coach for both an ACC Swimmer of the Year (Guiliano) and an ACC Freshman of the Year (Tommy Janton) at Notre Dame. Both swimmers won events at the 2024 ACC Championships, and Guiliano swept the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle at the meet.
Swimming at the 2024 Olympic Games will take place at the Paris La Defense Arena, located in the Paris suburb of Nanterre. Indoor swimming will take place during the first week of the Games, July 27-August 4. During the 2020 Olympic Games, Team USA swimmers earned 30 total medals, the most of any country (11 golds, 10 silvers and nine bronzes).
