SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Junior running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price have been named to the Pony Express Award Midseason Watch List, honoring the top duo in college football.
The running back duo of Love and Price are an unmatched one-two punch among FBS programs. Notre Dame is the only program with two running backs who have more than 500 rushing yards on the season (Love 758, Price 509).
Love has posted 124 carries for 758 yards and nine touchdowns, adding 19 receptions for 197 yards and three touchdowns this season. Price has notched 76 carries for 509 yards and eight touchdowns, with two 100-yard kickoff return touchdowns (part of eight total kickoff returns for 340 yards – 42.5 average) and two receptions for 44 yards.
Through seven games, Love has nine rushing touchdowns with three receiving touchdowns while Price has eight rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown and two kickoff return touchdowns. No other FBS program has two players with 10 or more touchdowns this season.
Love and Price have rushed for a touchdown in the same game 11 times, and five times this season, the most by a running back duo in Notre Dame history. The pair have combined for 16 instances of at least 100 all-purpose yards in the past two seasons.
Love, Price and Notre Dame’s offense have compiled an explosive first half of the season. Nationally, Notre Dame ranks eighth in passing yards per completion (14.56), eighth in turnover margin (1.14), 11th in scoring offense (39.1), 12th in team passing efficiency (167.80) and 20th in first downs (166).
